Physician Assistant Training
One-year training program for Mid-Level Providers to provide dermatological care under the supervision of dermatologists.
About the Program
The Dermatology Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Program at the South Texas Dermatology Residency Program is a 12-month fellowship program for certified physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive program to train the Fellow by preparing them to practice in a variety of dermatology specific settings. The program has been in existence for more than 10 years and the graduates are practicing in California and different parts of Texas.
The Trainee will attend all the basic science and didactic lectures with the dermatology residents. In addition, the Trainee will also follow the attending physician for hospital consults and assist in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. There will be a Kodachrome session at the end of each day to review dermatologic cases. In addition, there will be dermatopathology training with board certified Dermatopathologists.
After the completion of the training program, the graduate is required to serve ONE YEAR as a full-time provider to the program to provide teaching to other Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners at the various training sites. During and after this year, the salary will commensurate with experience.
