Dr. Rick Lin Certified Dermatologist

Rick Lin, DO MPH FAOCD

Dr. Rick Lin is a Board Certified Dermatologist practicing in McAllen, Texas since 2006. He is the only Board Certified Mohs Micrographic Surgeon and Board Certified Pediatric Dermatologist in the Rio Grande Valley region.

Dr. Rick Lin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of California at Berkeley and received his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth in 2001. He also graduated with the Master in Public Health Degree at the School of Public Health of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He then completed a traditional rotating internship at Dallas Southwest Medical Center in 2002.

In 2005, Dr. Lin completed his Dermatology residency training at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri in conjunction with the Dermatology Institute of North Texas. Dr. Rick Lin served as the Chief Resident of the residency training program for 2 years. He was also the Resident Liaison for the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology for 2 years prior to the completion of his residency. In addition to general dermatology and dermatopathology, Dr. Lin received specialized training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, advanced aesthetic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Lin is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology in the primary specialty of dermatology. He also holds the certification of added qualification for Mohs Micrographic Surgery from the Bureau of Osteopathic Medical Specialists of the American Osteopathic Association. In addition, he is also a board-certified sub-specialist in Pediatric Dermatology.

As a leader in the field of dermatology, he previously served as the President of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and the President for District 14. Dr. Lin also serves on several advisory boards for different pharmaceutical companies and contributes his opinion to the development of new medications.

Eric Sandrock, DO

Dr. Eric Sandrock is the Chief Dermatology Resident with over four years of experience practicing at Oasis Dermatology in McAllen, TX. He has a strong passion for the procedural aspects of dermatology, with a particular focus on Surgical Dermatology.

Dr. Sandrock earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Preliminary Internship at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI, before pursuing his dermatology residency in McAllen, Texas. His training in Osteopathic Medicine has deeply influenced his holistic approach to patient care, prioritizing prevention, lifestyle modifications, and, when necessary, medical or surgical interventions.

Committed to continuous learning and professional development, Dr. Sandrock is an active member of several respected organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Society for Mohs Surgery, Texas Medical Association, and Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honors Society. His involvement in these associations allows him to stay at the forefront of dermatology advancements while contributing to the community.

Fluent in English, Dr. Sandrock enjoys baking and gardening during his downtime. He has developed 10 unique orchid hybrids since his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, where he worked in the university’s greenhouses.

Valeria Gonzalez-Molina, MD

Dr. Valeria Gonzalez-Molina is a Senior Dermatology Resident practicing at Oasis Dermatology. She is passionate about dermatology, particularly in the areas of skin cancer, autoimmune conditions, acne, and hyperpigmented disorders, including melasma. 

Dr. Gonzalez-Molina earned her medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico, graduating with honors. She completed her Transitional Year Internship at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico, before relocating to McAllen, TX to continue her dermatology training.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Gonzalez is bilingual in Spanish and English, and her background as a Hispanic physician enables her to effectively diagnose and treat dermatologic conditions, particularly those that present differently in patients with skin of color. Her approach to patient care is rooted in compassion and empathy, treating each patient like family and ensuring they receive the highest level of care.

Dr. Gonzalez is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the Skin of Color Society. She has published several works in medical journals, including serving as the first author of “Topical Treatments for Melasma and Their Mechanism of Action,” which was published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology.

In her free time, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys playing tennis and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Kelly Maedo, MD

Dr. Kelly Maedo is a board-certified family medicine physician with over 25 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from Texas A&M University College of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Cox Health Systems Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Maedo served as an attending physician at the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency from 2003 to 2011, where she also served as Assistant Program Director. During this time, she helped establish and run a skin procedures clinic to address the shortage of dermatologists in the area.

In 2007, Dr. Maedo began working at Brazos Valley Urgent Care, eventually becoming the owner and providing urgent care to the Bryan/College Station community. She also contributed to COVID-19 relief efforts with DHR Hospital in McAllen, Texas, and worked at the DHR school-based clinic. Additionally, Dr. Maedo worked in various emergency departments across Houston and surrounding areas. In April 2024, Brazos Valley Urgent Care closed, and she transitioned to Oasis Dermatology to complete her clinical fellowship. 

Dr. Maedo is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Board of Family Medicine. She was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for her academic achievements during medical school. Dr. Maedo has long been passionate about dermatology and skin surgery, which began during her plastic surgery rotation in medical school. As a family medicine physician, her extensive surgical experience with C-sections and tubal ligations further honed her skills. She is dedicated to addressing the dermatology provider shortage in underserved communities. Her patient care philosophy focuses on collaboration, evidence-based medicine, and personalized treatment plans.

Fluent in English, Dr. Maedo enjoys fiber arts such as crochet and knitting in her free time. She has three children, two of whom are pursuing careers in medicine, and she looks forward to the arrival of her first grandchild.

Sonia Amy Neave, MD

Dr. Sonia Amy Neave is a board-certified family medicine physician and is currently completing his second year of clinical dermatology fellowship. Dr. Neave earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Mercy Medical Center in Merced, California. She also completed two years of dermatology training during his residency, which deepened his passion for the field.

Dr. Neave transitioned to dermatology full-time after practicing primary care, driven by her desire to make a tangible impact on patients’ lives through personalized care. Her values educating patients about skin care, the importance of prevention, and available treatment options, empowering them to make informed decisions. Dr. Neave takes a holistic approach to patient care, considering cultural and personal backgrounds to provide individualized treatment plans.

Dr. Neave is committed to serving the Hispanic community, recognizing the need for Spanish-speaking providers. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows her to communicate effectively with the South Texas population.

Dr. Neave is a member of the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Neave enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and dog, as well as engaging in outdoor activities like hiking and backpacking. She is also a vegetarian and enjoys trying new foods and restaurants.

Kevin Burningham, MD

Dr. Kevin Burningham is a dedicated physician committed to evidence-based medicine and advancing patient care. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University in 2017. Dr. Burningham earned his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2022. Dr. Burningham completed an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine internship at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2023.

After becoming a fully licensed physician, Dr. Burningham worked as a clinical research fellow in Houston, TX, where he conducted clinical trials for cutting-edge dermatological medications. Passionate about dermatology, he recognizes the critical role skin plays in self-esteem, identity, and emotional well-being. To further refine his expertise, Dr. Burningham continued his education with a clinical fellowship at Oasis Dermatology. He is dedicated to keeping his patients well-informed and actively involved in their healthcare decisions. By educating them about their conditions and treatment options, he also takes the time to listen to their experiences, ensuring he fully understands their needs.

Dr. Burningham is a winner of the 2020 Dallas Dermatological Society “Best Student Presentation” award and the 2019 Texas Academy of Family Physicians Poster Competition. He has authored 12 peer-reviewed medical articles, underscoring his commitment to modern medicine and continuous learning.

Dr. Burningham is fluent in English, with proficiency in Japanese and basic Spanish, and strives to improve his Spanish to better serve the Rio Grande Valley community. He is a proud husband and father of three, a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and enjoys singing, reading, writing, and gaming in his free time.

Kara Asbury, MD

Dr. Kara Asbury is an Infectious Diseases specialist with a background in Internal Medicine. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berry College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and minors in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Asbury earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College, graduating with honors and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society.

After completing her Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic, she became board-certified in 2009. She further specialized in Infectious Diseases through a fellowship at Mayo Clinic, where she was honored as Fellow of the Year in 2018 and board-certified in Infectious Diseases.

During her career, Dr. Asbury treated numerous dermatologic conditions as part of her Infectious Diseases practice. This experience led her to join Oasis Dermatology as a Clinical Fellow, where she continues to strengthen her expertise in cutaneous diseases. Dr. Asbury currently serves as the Chairwoman for Infectious Diseases at Honor Health Hospital in Phoenix. She has earned multiple accolades, including the 2020 Honor Health Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and recognition as Phoenix Top Doctor for Infectious Diseases (2021-2024).

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Asbury is committed to bridging language barriers and building meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients. Her ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients and their families ensures that all parties receive accurate and timely information, fostering a more effective and compassionate healthcare experience.

Outside of work, Dr. Asbury enjoys fitness, hiking, traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and dogs.

Jamie Hedrick, DO MBA

Dr. Jamie Hedrick completed her medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an internship in the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Transitional Year program. Her osteopathic training focuses on holistic care, patient education, and the management of chronic dermatological conditions, skin care regimens, and skin cancer prevention and treatment. In 2024, she joined Oasis Dermatology to begin her clinical fellowship training.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Hedrick worked as a process improvement consultant in a large hospital system, where she led initiatives to enhance clinical efficiency and patient outcomes. This experience inspired her transition to a patient-facing role. During medical school, she developed a passion for dermatology by observing local dermatologists and attending educational events, refining her diagnostic skills in dermatology. Dr. Hedrick is committed to patient education, collaborating on personalized treatment plans that address each patient’s needs. She believes in empowering patients, fostering trust, and promoting long-term skin health.

She is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. Dr. Hedrick also led the Dermatology Interest Group Association during medical school and is committed to staying updated on dermatological advancements.

Fluent in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, Dr. Hedrick is eager to serve diverse patient populations. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling with her fiancé, rowing, DIY projects, and spending time with her dog. She is also a Taylor Swift fan who loves music and creativity.

Saba Suleman, MD MBA MPH

Dr. Saba Suleman is a dedicated physician with deep roots in the Rio Grande Valley, where she grew up. Dr. Suleman earned her Bachelor of Science in Premedical Biology, with minors in Chemistry, Kinesiology, and Psychology, from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), graduating summa cum laude in 2017. She went on to earn a Master of Public Health from Texas A&M University in 2020, followed by her Medical Doctor degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in 2023. Dr. Suleman also holds an Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration and a certificate in Healthcare Leadership from UTRGV’s Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship, both earned in 2023.

In 2024, Dr. Suleman completed her intern year at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She has a strong passion for mentorship and leadership, having served as a JAMP mentor at UTRGV School of Medicine, where she guided pre-medical students in coursework and medical school applications. During the pandemic, Dr. Suleman also helped administer COVID-19 vaccines at UTRGV. Throughout medical school, she was actively involved in leadership, including serving as the President of the Dermatology Interest Group Association and Vice President of the Public Health Interest Group. She was also selected to serve on the leadership board for Graduate Medical Education during her intern year and as the social media chair for her Transitional Year program. 

Before beginning her clinical fellowship at Oasis Dermatology, Dr. Suleman served as the Director of Marketing for Oasis Dermatology. Dr. Suleman is fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, and has basic proficiency in Spanish. As a female physician from a diverse background, she is committed to addressing the unique healthcare needs of her community.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Suleman enjoys culinary exploration, spending time with her two cats, yoga on the beach, hosting social events, and watching anime as well as Korean and Turkish dramas.

Mia De La Garza, MPAS PA-C

Mia De La Garza is a Board-Certified Physician Associate practicing at Oasis Dermatology in Rio Grande City, Texas. She has been dedicated to providing exceptional dermatologic care to both new and returning patients since 2006.

Mrs. De La Garza earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. She then completed a Clinical Laboratory Science program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, beginning her career as a Medical Technologist at Christus Spohn Hospital. Mrs. De La Garza later returned to school at the University of Texas Pan American, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science and earned her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Since joining Oasis Dermatology, Mrs. De La Garza has developed a passion for skin cancer education and early detection, becoming an advocate for proactive patient care in dermatology. She is committed to staying current with advancements in the field to ensure that every patient receives expert care.

Fluent in Spanish, Mrs. De La Garza is able to communicate effectively with her diverse patient population, particularly when discussing dermatological concerns. Her bilingual skills enhance patient understanding and trust.

Mrs. De La Garza is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Outside of her professional life, Mrs. De La Garza enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, working on home improvement projects, watching movies, and gardening.

Hervey Galvan, MPAS PA-C

Hervey Galvan is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant with a dedicated career in healthcare, having served the Rio Grande Valley since 2004. With expertise in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Dermatology, Mr. Galvan has built a reputation for providing high-quality patient care across a variety of specialties. Mr. Galvan earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas-Pan American in 2003, and became board certified as a Physician Assistant in 2004. In 2011, Mr. Galvan completed a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas-Pan American.

From 2004 to 2013, Mr. Galvan worked in an Internal Medicine/Pediatric practice, gaining a deep understanding of diverse health needs. In May 2013, he joined the Dermatology Physician Assistant Fellowship at the South Texas Dermatology Residency Program, becoming one of the first Physician Assistants in the Rio Grande Valley to practice dermatology. After completing the fellowship, Mr. Galvan trained other Physician Assistants and assisted in Mohs Micrographic and general skin surgeries. He also completed the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants Diplomate Fellowship in 2014.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Mr. Galvan is committed to providing clear communication and compassionate care to the diverse patient population in the Rio Grande Valley. By practicing with integrity and placing patients’ values at the forefront, Mr. Galvan works closely with other healthcare professionals to develop effective and ethical treatment plans.

Outside of professional practice, Mr. Galvan is an avid athlete who supports local events, including running, cycling, and swimming. He also advocates for the importance of skin checkups during these events to promote overall health and well-being.

Daisy Elizondo, MPAS PA-C

Daisy Elizondo is a Board-Certified Dermatology Physician Associate practicing in McAllen, Texas. With over 8 years of experience in the field, she provides expert dermatological care to the residents of the Rio Grande Valley. Mrs. Elizondo earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin before completing her Physician Assistant training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2016. She furthered her expertise by undergoing an intensive dermatology training program alongside medical residents at the Dermatology Clinic of McAllen, which equipped her with a broad range of knowledge and cultural sensitivity essential for serving the diverse community of the Rio Grande Valley.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Elizondo has honed her skills in performing full-body skin exams, shave and punch biopsies, as well as various surgical procedures. She finds great fulfillment in providing specialty dermatologic care in medically underserved areas, ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all. Mrs. Elizondo is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates and the Rio Grande Valley Physician Associate Society. During her time at UTHSCSA, she was honored with the Baptist Health Scholarship, reflecting her commitment to excellence and ongoing medical education.

As a native of the Rio Grande Valley, Mrs. Elizondo is fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows her to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population. 

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Elizondo enjoys spending time with her husband of 16 years and their two teenage sons.

Alexis Wood, MPAS PA-C

Alexis Wood is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. She has been practicing since December 2023, focusing on medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with a commitment to patient-centered care. Ms. Wood earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and completed her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Her training at UTRGV, in a region with a diverse and underserved population, provided valuable experience in treating patients from rural communities. She also completed a Clinical PA Fellowship in Dermatology at Oasis Dermatology, where she gained advanced expertise in dermatologic care.

Throughout her career, Ms. Wood has treated a variety of conditions, including acne, eczema, and skin cancer, and performed procedures such as surgical excisions, shave and punch biopsies, and cryotherapy. She is passionate about dermatology’s impact on patients’ confidence and well-being, believing skin health is closely connected to overall health, often reflecting systemic issues. Ms. Wood’s patient care philosophy is rooted in compassion, education, and collaboration. She strives to create a welcoming environment, empowering patients to make informed decisions and tailoring treatment plans to individual needs.

She is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, staying current with the latest advancements through continuing education. 

Fluent in English and with a basic understanding of Spanish, Ms. Wood is able to effectively communicate with a broad patient population. Outside of work, she enjoys lifting weights, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Gabriela Ramirez, MPAS PA-C

Gabriela Ramirez is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology, practicing in the Rio Grande Valley. She has been practicing in dermatology extensively and is committed to providing quality care to a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.  Ms. Ramirez earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio before returning to the Rio Grande Valley to pursue a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). She graduated from the UTRGV College of Health Professions in 2022 and became a board-certified Physician Assistant in 2023.

With a passion for healthcare accessibility and patient education, Ms. Ramirez finds great fulfillment in practicing medicine within an underserved community. She is dedicated to ensuring patients understand their conditions and treatment plans, fostering informed and confident decision-making. Mrs. Ramirez enjoys the hands-on nature of dermatology, performing procedures such as cryosurgery, biopsies, intralesional injections, and surgeries.

Ms. Ramirez is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and actively engages in continuous medical education to stay current in the field. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she is able to connect effectively with a diverse patient base.

Outside of medicine, Ms. Ramirez enjoys reading, solving crosswords, and traveling.

Sri Naidnur, MPAS PA-C

Sri Naidnur earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from East Tennessee State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Narayana Dental College in India. She later earned her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies in Voorhees, New Jersey. Her background in dentistry has shaped her dermatology practice, providing her with a strong understanding of patient care, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The meticulous attention to detail and focus on patient education from her dental training have enhanced her ability to perform thorough skin assessments and educate patients on dermatological conditions, enabling her to offer holistic, well-rounded treatment plans.

Mrs. Naidnur is passionate about dermatology and its impact on patient self-esteem and overall health. She finds the combination of clinical practice and procedural work intellectually fulfilling. Her patient care philosophy centers on compassion, empathy, and individualized attention. Mrs. Naidnur strives to empower her patients by providing them with the knowledge to make informed decisions and emphasizes a holistic approach to dermatologic health. She has earned notable academic distinctions, including an Academic Distinction Medal in Dental Pharmacology, showcasing her commitment to excellence and patient care.

Fluent in English, Telugu, and Hindi, with basic proficiency in Tamil, Ms. Naidnur is able to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, reading, and gardening.
